![]() Long Island City is the eastern terminus of the Queensboro Bridge, the only non-tolled automotive route connecting Queens and Manhattan. The area has a high concentration of art galleries, art institutions, and studio space. ![]() In the early 21st century, Long Island City became known for its rapid and ongoing residential growth and gentrification, its waterfront parks, and its thriving arts community. Incorporated as a city in 1870, Long Island City was originally the seat of government of the Town of Newtown, before becoming part of the City of Greater New York in 1898. ![]() It is bordered by Astoria to the north the East River to the west New Calvary Cemetery in Sunnyside to the east and Newtown Creek-which separates Queens from Greenpoint, Brooklyn-to the south. ![]() Long Island City ( LIC) is a residential and commercial neighborhood on the extreme western tip of Queens, a borough in New York City in the United States. ![]()
